And that does not include the $700 billion mortgage bailout

re: Congressional spending out of control; time for a change in mindset

I agree with just-a-girl. We need our factories back. We need all of our jobs back. Wall Street told us that we were changing into an Information Age. Doesn't seem like anybody wants to buy our information. Now all of our jobs went to Mexico then China and India. Where are we suppose to work? McDonalds? Walmart? CVS? They don't pay enough or hire enough. As a nation, we are losing our job skills. I don't see the skilled trades anymore. When I do, it's usually a foreign national. Our children are fed a constant stream of trash all day long by the media. Our children think that street thuggery is an occupation (thanks record companies!...hope your children go up to be street thugs also!) If China goes through another revolution, where will we get our consumer goods? It would take us years to ramp up our factories and train workers. What we are doing now is national suicide! Bring back our factories, our craft training, and our hope for the future.

re: Congressional spending out of control; time for a change in mindset

I definitely agree with having corporate tax cuts, but how about having a condition? Cut taxes for companies who bring jobs back to the US...

Bring all of the (outsourced) customer service jobs back...

Bring all of the (south of the border) manufacturing jobs back to Detroit... ("About 30,000 US jobs will be lost to Mexico under Ford’s decision to build new automobile plants in Mexico. Via the Drudge Report and Washington Post. - May 31, 2008")

American automakers lay-off workers in the US and then wonder why their sales drop! The same employees they laid-off can no longer afford to buy their cars, resulting in more lay-offs and the vicious circle continues...

We need to manufacture more here in the United States (of course with close oversight on environmental pollution because we don't want to become Beijing).
