Montana crowdsourcing for cost saving ideas

Governor seeks to cut budget by 5%

Though Montana currently has a budget surplus, tax revenues are expected to decline over the next few years. In response, Democratic Governor Brian Schweitzer announced a contest to find ideas for saving money from state employees and his constituents.

The Montana Accountability Partnership has already received some good ideas, including switching to open source software to eliminate costly contracts with Microsoft and Oracle.
