Report: Cutting fuel use could save lives in Afghanistan

In 2008, the military spent $16 billion on 120 million barrels of oil

Transporting large amounts of fuel in Afghanistan makes troops more vulnerable to attacks, and if no improvements are made to efficiency, the number of U.S. troops killed in Afghanistan could more than double by 2014.
