The National Christmas Tree lighting lottery now open

By Jaime L. Hartman Nov 05 2009, 07:22 AM

The 2009 National Christmas Tree lighting ceremony will be held on December 3, 2009. The ceremony is a time honored holiday tradition which includes the illumination of the National Christmas Tree on the Ellipse just south of the White House. The United States Marine Corps Band and other nationally known entertainers will perform, and the President will deliver a message of peace to the nation and the world.

For the first time, tickets to attend the lighting will be distributed through an online lottery that is open through Friday, November 6. Also new this year, those not fortunate enough to attend in person can watch a live webcast at 5PM on December 3.
