The old adage slams Washington as “Hollywood for ugly people” but the folks at one local newspaper beg to differ. The journalists at The Hill took a break from their normally serious jobs of reporting on pending legislation, reelection campaigns, and lobbying strategies to share the loveliness of the 50 most beautiful people on Capitol Hill.

The collection includes legislators and Hill staffers as well as lobbyists and journalists who lurk around it and the Capitol employees who keep the place running. Topping this year’s list is 37-year-old freshman Rep. Martin Heinrich. The Democrat from New Mexico is described as an “avid outdoorsman” who eschews the Capitol’s underground tunnels in favor of catching just a bit of daylight as he walks from his office to the Capitol for votes.

Though Democrats seem to dominate the top 10 this year—not unsurprisingly since by sheer numbers they dominate the city right now—the list is clearly bipartisan. Coming in at number two is Kay Gerard, the 25-year-old scheduler for Republican Sen. Susan Collins. Unfortunately, Gerard will not continue beautifying DC for much longer; at the end of the summer she’s moving to Australia where her boyfriend lives. Sorry, guys!

The list is also inclusive when it comes to age. Rep. Maxine Waters, who is still resplendent at 70, is listed at number five. Waters impressed The Hill with the four-inch stiletto heels she wears even on 12-hour congressional workdays. Take that 20-somethings!

Links to The Hill's annual list, which we are reminding our OMG readers to check out, are included in the story above. Due to style sheet issues, linked text is currently not visible unless you mouseover. We hope to have this resolved soon. Thx
