Pillow-fighters in Detroit got a dose of bureaucracy Saturday after city police broke up an organized pillow fight in a downtown park because the participants lacked a permit to carry out the event.
The event was part of a worldwide demonstration organized via social networking sites that took place in 100 cities, including Washington D.C, Chicago, New York, Cincinnati, Budapest, Rio de Janeiro, and Paris, to name but a few. The peace event transpired in all cities as planned with the exception of Detroit, where police confiscated the deadly pillows and dispersed the crowd.
“We don’t have a problem with consenting adults hitting each other with pillows, but the issue becomes cleanup,” said Detroit police spokesman James Tate to the Detroit Free Press.
Participants were given back their pillow cases to fight another day.
