Citing pressing workforce recruitment issues, the Agriculture
Department on Wednesday said it will launch a five-year
pay-for-performance
demonstration project covering 2,900 nonbargaining unit employees in
the Food Safety Inspection Service in July.
"Through the demonstration project, FSIS will be able to take a
proactive role in finding solutions to ... attract the best qualified
candidates and
to retain and motivate its current workforce," FSIS wrote in a Federal
Register notice finalizing the program, which was announced in May.
