Description:
JSI provides high-quality
technical and managerial assistance to public health programs
worldwide. JSI has implemented projects in 102 countries, and currently
operates from seven U.S. and 38 international offices. In order to meet
current program needs and contribute to the development of new
initiatives, JSI seeks to add an additional HIV & AIDS Advisor to
its HIV & AIDS team. The advisor will have responsibility as the
senior corporate liaison between JSI headquarters and a portfolio of
bilateral field projects addressing HIV & AIDS and will play a key
role in JSI's project support structure. The position reports to the
Director, JSI Center for HIV & AIDS, JSI/Boston, and works as part
of JSI's International Division in Boston.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support project
implementation in an advisory capacity and monitor overall progress in
achieving project objectives for bilateral HIV & AIDS programs.
- Assure high standards for project management and technical quality and help ensure successful project implementation.
- Manage periodic contact with key clients to seek feedback and guidance.
- Lead field project planning and evaluation processes.
- Assess technical resource needs and identify resources to fill these needs.
- Provide direct technical assistance in HIV & AIDS.
- Participate in new business development activities.
- Identify program staff and consultants for bilateral programs, both existing and proposed.
- Collaborate with other JSI programs to provide technical and management assistance as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in public health, management, public policy, business, or related fields
- 5-8 years working in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of international health projects
- 3-5 years overseas employment experience, preferably in more than one
country (Developing country experience is strongly preferred.)
- Strong managerial, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Technical expertise and experience in HIV & AIDS
- Knowledge of and experience working with PEPFAR, USAID and other USG support
- Knowledge of Global Fund, foundations and other HIV program funders
- Knowledge of, or ability to quickly grasp, JSI management and quality assurance systems
- Ability to work in at least one language in addition to English is desirable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to establish a team and work as part of it
