A hilarious look back at the 2008 election

By Andrew B. Einhorn Nov 25 2008, 10:43 AM

Political junkies everywhere, despite being inundated with the cabinet guessing game, are undergoing severe election withdrawal after closely following one of the most interesting presidential races in history so closely for nearly two years. To cure what ails you, we've uncovered and put together some visually engaging presentations of the 2008 election. Call it an early holiday present, something to be thankful for on Thanksgiving, or simply more OhMyGov! love; either way, we think you'll be entertained and maybe even a bit smarter after watching.

Our first cherry-picked multimedia messaging wraps up the ten worst news stories of the 2008 presidential elections. The video was compiled by MSNBC - a purveyor of some of the stories that is now somewhat vindicated by the retrospective analysis. The video includes stories about Obama plotting his path to the White House from age 5, Paris Hilton's appearance in John McCain's negative ads against Obama, the notorious fist-bump between Michelle and Barack Obama some speculated to be a sign of underground political associations, and what happens to a pig when lipstick is smeared on it, among others.

If your brain is thirsty for a bit more of an intellectual lesson in politics, turn your attention to the map below which outlines the trends in party politics within presidential races around the country from 1960 to 2008.
