Postal worker caught smoking crack in mail truck

Praised as a 'fine public servant' by Marion Barry

Milwaukee residents who find white powder in their mailbox don't need to worry about anthrax this time around. Chances are it is just some cocaine that a local U.S. Postal Service employee was delivering along with the usual bills and catalogs.

Postal worker Sandra Winkler, 51, was charged with drug offenses by police after they found her smoking crack while sitting inside her USPS mail truck. Winkler had also been making deliveries of cocaine to family members on Milwaukee's south side on her daily route.

According to court papers, she told police that she smoked crack in her mail truck because it afforded her more privacy. It turns out she'd been at it for some time, too. Winkler allegedly also told police she had been using crack cocaine daily for several years.

If convicted, Winkler faces up to 10 years in prison. Winkler's daughter, a recipient of one of the powdery packages, also faces charges. The daughter was apparently caught using the drugs while driving with her toddler in the car.

What, no crack breaks! The next rule will be no coffee in the morning. The union should protest.
