New Jersey has had its share of derogatory nicknames over the years, but for one night, the state that has been called "America’s bathroom" exacted revenge by peeing on someone else. Quite literally.
Steven Lipski, a Jersey City Councilman, was arrested last Friday night while attending a Grateful Dead tribute concert here in Washington, DC. Lipski, 44, was charged with simple assault after he allegedly urinated from a balcony onto fellow concert goers at the famous 9:30 Club.
In addition to serving the public, Lipski is also the head of Create Charter School in Jersey City. Known as a strict disciplinarian at the school, Lipski has created a difficult situation for students such as freshman Kenneth Sarratt. “He tells our seniors and juniors to be a role model, and from what he did is not a good role model to us," Sarratt told ABC12.
Many have called for Lipski's termination or resignation if the allegations turn out to be true. In fact, some say that not only should he step down as Councilman, but his relationship with the school should also be severed.
A source told the NY Daily News that this is not the first time they've had encounters with Lipski, "We've dealt with this man before," the source said. "He's never peed on anybody, but he gets really belligerent and drunk."
The AP has reported that Lipski offered a different explanation, involving a spilled beer. The investigation is ongoing.
