President-Elect Barack Obama (D), who will assume the highest office in the land on Jan. 20, is a "Renegade" in the eyes of the U.S. Secret Service. That's the not-so-secret code name assigned to Obama, who won the presidency on his campaign of bringing "change" and "hope" to the country.
The Secret Service has assigned code names to every president since Harry Truman ("General"), though in reality they are more showpiece than security. The names often make reference to a president's personality. JFK's was "Lancer," a nod to his Camelot mystique. Reagan's was "Rawhide" and Jimmy Carter's was "Deacon."
All members of the First Family receive code names, as do the Vice President and his family. Michelle Obama's is "Renaissance," while the Obama daughters will be called "Radiance" (Malia) and "Rosebud" (Sasha).
Here's a look at more Secret Service code names through history.
