The voting numbers are in and amazingly, Barack Obama and John McCain (or Sarah Palin) are more popular than David Cook and David Archuela - last year's American Idol winner and runner-up.
According to USA Today, over 133 million people, or 62.5 percent of eligible voters, voted in this Presidential election, more than in any other election. Even more impressive is the fact that the number of votes for president exceeded the 97.5 million votes texted into last season's American Idol.
Whether it was the struggling economy, tensions over the ongoing, wars, the incredible get out the vote measures, or simply the free sex toys, ice cream and coffee given out to voters that got them out to the booths, no one is sure. But some experts are projecting that the revolt against armchair activism could be even higher, once all ballots here and from abroad are counted, bringing the total to 148 million, or 64 percent of the voting populace.
Not since the election of Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964 following JFK's assassination have voters been so involved. That year, 62 percent of all voters cast their ballots.
