The most addictive thing about the 2008 elections

By Andrew B. Einhorn Nov 03 2008, 10:15 AM

For those of you with serious stamina who have yet to suffer from election exhaustion, it may be time to see how you stack up to the self-professed network political experts. All you need to do is visit www.270towin.com and use the interactive map to make your predictions about how the states will vote for our next president.

The site is easy to use and highly addictive, allowing the user to evaluate every possible scenario - save for a draw - for the 2008 elections. If you've been wondering what the swing states are, use the drop down menu to view them. If you want to compare this year to the 2004 presidential race, simply navigate back in time through the menus to see how many states Sen. John Kerry won vs. those carried by the President.

Below is a look at one of the site's many mapping options related to how the country is currently divided over the candidates, as determined by the latest polls. The darker the color, the bigger the margin, where blue represents Obama votes and red represents McCain votes. The colorless or beige states are the swing states, where polling margins suggest the state is too close to call.

Of course, if you don't think the polls are accurate, you can click the states to make your own predictions and calculate all of the "what if" scenarios you can possibly handle. And if you're feeling extra confident about your predictions, save it and bet your friends. It will make tomorrow night a whole lot more interesting...
