Running a campaign costs serious money. Those negative TV ads, annoying lawn signs, and first class travel doesn't come cheap. And as Politico.com pointed out today, neither does the fashion.
Apparently the Republican National Committee spent over $150,000 to
spruce up the appeal of near beauty queen turned Governor Sarah Palin. So much for cutting wasteful spending! This VP candidate used the funds on clothing, accessories, hair "stylists," and makeup in the short time since she was tapped for the job in late August.
On the upside, the woman - or whoever shops for her - has good taste. Financial disclosure records revealed the bulk of the funds were spent at Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis
and New York for a combined $49,425.74. On a few more trips, this time to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, Gov. Palin spent $75,062.63 and didn't walk away with the deed to the store.
That's quite the lot of cash for such a "mainstreet, small town" girl like Sarah Palin. It makes me wonder two things: Did SNL pay for Tina Fey's parody outfits and how many skirt suits does a woman need!
For Hillary Clinton, the answer is one...she wears pantsuits. But in all seriousness, didn't Palin have ANY clothes before running for VP? They sell clothes in Alaska too don't they?
