1. West Palm Beach Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-FL) agreed to a $121,000 payment to a former mistress who worked on his staff and was threatening to sue him. Unfortunately, the payment was in cash, not floral arrangements and Mahoney asked the House to investigate his behavior.
2. 90 percent of Americans are dissatisfied with the direction of the country, according to a new USA/Gallop poll. Other polls say the remaining ten percent aren't paying attention.
3. Obama's favorable ratings are rising while McCain's are faltering. Nearly two-thirds of voters (64 percent) view Obama favorably in the latest poll while 33 percent view him unfavorably.
4. Record high 82% say it's a bad time to find a job
5. Democrats weighing another huge economic stimulus package - on the order of $300 billion - even though the last one didn't work.
6. Gay couples "are feverishly tying the knot ahead of Election Day to avoid missing out if voters approve a ballot initiative aimed at banning same-sex marriage."

It's not entirely fair to say the bailout didn't work. It hasn't really been implemented yet. They've hired new staff just to manage it, so it's going to take more than just a few days to really see how the market is affected.

he was talking about the stimulus package, not the bailout. Remember that $600 check from Uncle Sam you put in the bank and didn't spend back in JULY!
