OhMyGov! asked its readers if their supervisors were good at their jobs. Less than a quarter responded affirmatively, that he/she is both socially adept and technically astute. The rest of respondents found something lacking in their supervisor, whether it was technical know-how, people skills, or both. As a sad indictment on the quality of supervisors among our readers, nearly half of all respondents said that their supervisor doesn’t have a clue about people or process.
The full results are as follows:
8% - He/she is a good people manager but lacks technical skills
19% - He/she has the technical know-how but lacks people skills
24% - Yes, he/she is socially adept and technically astute
49% - No, he/she doesn’t have a clue about people or process.

Thanks to all who responded to the survey. We’d like to hear more about your experiences with less-than qualified supervisors as well as the rare great ones. Tell us about them in the comments below, or contact our editors.
