Puerto Rico Governor Anibal Acevedo Vilà, a senior aide and a former campaign director were indicted on conspiracy to commit money laundering and honest services wire fraud. Full story

2. Newark: Former Official Pleads Guilty in Murder-for-Hire Plot

Richard Kaplan, former New Brunswick official serving time in federal prison for accepting bribes, pled guilty to attempting to hire a hit man to murder his wife. Full story

3. Newark: Operation Broken Boards Nabs Member of Board of Education

Former Paterson Board of Education member Chauncey I. Brown, III was arrested in connection with an FBI undercover investigation targeting public corruption. Full story

4. Knoxville: Tech Company Pleads Guilty to Illegal Exports to China

Atmospheric Glow Technologies, Inc. pled guilty to exporting defense-related technical data to the People’s Republic of China. Full story

5. Indianapolis: Sheriff Charged with Theft of Federal Funds

Mark T. Frisbie, Sheriff of Putnam County, was charged with the use of federal program funds for the payment of his personal expenses. Full story (pdf)

6. Kansas City: Employees Plead Guilty to Sabotage of War Materials

Charles Dale Osborn and Timothy Duane Langevin, former employees of the Lake City Ammunition Plant, pled guilty to stealing more than 16,000 pounds of copper components. Full story

7. New York: Police Officer Indicted by Federal Grand Jury

Yonkers Police Department Officer Wayne Simoes was indicted for violating the civil rights of a woman by using excessive force which resulted in bodily injury. Full story

8. Washington Field Office: Personal Injury Lawyer Pleads Guilty

Attorney Stephen P. Conrad pled guilty to defrauding his clients of over $3.5 million. Full story

9. St. Louis: Shriners Hospital CFO Pleads Guilty

Robert Steven Brodzin, former CFO of Shriners Hospital for Children, pled guilty to stealing more than $828,000 which was meant for special needs children. Full story

10. Phoenix: Holy Land Foundation Fund Raiser Arrested

Akram Musa Abdallah, aka Abu Saiaf, was arrested for lying to the FBI regarding his involvement in fund-raising activities for the Holy Land Foundation, an organization with ties to Hamas. Full story
