Bureau Pat's Website of the Week: Ross Perot's PerotCharts.com

By Andrew B. Einhorn Jun 17 2008, 10:16 AM

Remember Ross Perot, that eccentric, little billionaire from Texas who helped steal votes from George Bush numero uno in the 1992 presidential election?

Long known for using charts to emphasize his points, Perot has launched himself back into the political fray with a new website called PerotCharts.com

While the site fails to embrace the modern trends of naming websites creatively (e.g. Yahoo, Zing, Google, Mashable, and of course, OhMyGov!), it does utilize the latest web technologies to bang home Perot's message about the economy, health care, population growth, the federal budget, and the federal deficit via a slew of easy to read charts.  What is the message you ask? That the U.S. is headed for economic disaster.

"This website was developed for one reason: to provide accurate information to every citizen about the serious economic problems facing our country," said Perot.  "We are leaving our children and grandchildren with debt they cannot possibly pay. The economic crisis facing America today is far greater than anything since the Great Depression."

The 77-year-old Perot seems no less convincing talking about his charts and his new website than he did during the 1992 campaign. Only this time, he appears as a concerned citizen reaching out for help from other Americans.

"So what can you do?  If you're convinced we need action, please contact your congressman and senators in Washington and urge them to become actively involved, said Perot."

There are about 100 charts on the website currently.  All are useful, enlightening, and easy to follow.  Many mirror those in our own Vital Stats section.

The last time Ross Perot ran for President was 1996. The last time he voted was 1994. Perot's company and his campaign owe New York State overdue taxes of over $15,000.00 www.webofdeception.com
