The head of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) said Friday that he wanted to regulate fees up to $175 charged to cellphone users who cancel their wireless contracts early.
At
a news conference, FCC Chairman Kevin J. Martin expressed his support for regulating the fees at a federal level, but stopped short of saying whether or not he sought to help consumers avoid
“early termination fees.”
The issue will be on the agenda at a public hearing at the FCCs next meeting, scheduled for June 12.
