Air Force getting serious about cyber warfare

The Air Force has begun intensive research and development to create cyber warfare tools. An announcement was placed in the government website soliciting ideas for business opportunities. The solicitation notice was released as the Dominant Cyber Offensive Engagement and Supporting Technology effort by the Air Force Research Library.

The Department of Homeland Security, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and others join the Air Force in a bid to gain footing in the field of CyberWars. Homeland Security, DARPA and other government agencies are backing a five-year National Security Initiative with $30 Billion in funding. The initiative involves the use of a virtual test range where hackers can conduct field tests of the latest cyber-terrorism weapons.
