Public Service Recognition Week starts May 5

By Mark Malseed May 02 2008, 12:18 PM

Next week is Public Service Recognition Week, and Washington will celebrate with a series of events on the National Mall from  Monday, May 5, to Wednesday, May 7.

More than 100 federal agencies are sponsoring exhibits showcasing innovative government work, which will line the Mall between the National Gallery of Art and the Air & Space Museum. The celebration kicks off at 11:30 a.m. Monday with a naturalization ceremony and remarks from Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-Ill.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee on the federal workforce, and others. The Public Employees Roundtable and the Council for Excellence in Government are principal sponsors.

Other notable events: The Air Force's Max Impact rock band will perform Monday at 2 p.m., and on Wednesday at 1 p.m. is FedPitch, a contest featuring two-minute pitches on how to improve the government.

OhMyGov! joins in saluting our dedicated public servants at all levels of government. See you there!
