If you've ever locked your keys in your car, called AAA for help, and watched in complete amazement as the AAA man unlocked your car door inside of 20 seconds, you may have also wondered how people with specialized skills--like lock picking--obtained those skills in the first place.
Was the AAA guy a reformed criminal? How many cars had he stolen before he became proficient enough to be hired by AAA road service?
A recent report by the Associated Press tells the flip side of that story--the story of a government employee turned criminal. In High Point, N.C., a former DMV employee faces
federal charges for distributing fake driver's licenses produced on the
job.
Gee Annette Holloman, 48,
her boyfriend, illegal immigrant Timoteo Torres-Ulloa, and a third party produced fake licenses until they sold one to undercover officers in March. Beforehand, Holloman worked as a driver's license
examiner for four years. She and her boyfriend were
arrested on state charges in March and arrested on federal charges Friday.
