THE COMPANY

OhMyGov Inc. is a non-partisan provider of software and analytical consulting services that better enables organizations to monitor, benchmark, and improve their media footprint and the impact of their public affairs work.

Founded in 2009, OhMyGov Inc. seeks to help organizations – particularly those working in or with the U.S. Government – maximize communication opportunities and extract actionable business intelligence from digital media. The company’s analytics, insights, and executives have been featured in a variety of news publications, including CNN, Newsweek, ABC News, Politico, US News & World Report, The Hill, and the National Journal.

THE TECHNOLOGY

The OhMyGov Media Monitoring and Policy Analysis system is the first and only business intelligence software completely politically focused. It provides real-time data mining, analysis, and visual analytics to uncover patterns in message uptake and critical insights into how issues are being characterized by Congress as well as the media, public, and key stakeholders.

Through the world’s largest political media monitoring and analysis platform, agencies, offices, campaigns, politicians, lobbyists, contractors, and NGO’s are able to:
  • Manage their online reputation,
  • Measure and improve communications efforts,
  • Maintain full situational awareness over government activities, and
  • Monitor the impact of public affairs and political messaging.

The platform works by monitoring and strategically mining data from Twitter, Facebook, and over 60,000 digital news and blog sources. The information collected includes data used for performance metrics, such as fan and follower growth, engagement and customer service metrics, such as likes, comments, retweets, and replies, productivity measures, keyword mentions, and hashtags used. Analyses are then applied to the data to determine daily, weekly, and monthly growth rates and fluctuations, in order to show performance in media.

Groups of similar account types (e.g. Federal agencies) are then analyzed to determine how one organization compares against the average of all other similar organizations on any metric. The Media Power Rank uses a proprietary algorithm that pulls data from 17 metrics to provide an overarching view of an organization’s media footprint relative to its peers or competitors.

WHY USE THIS SYSTEM?
